2007 – Founding and Vision
E-Dairy Africa Limited began as Agri-Trace Kenya Limited after securing a landmark Kenya Dairy Board tender to digitize Kenya’s dairy sector. The company’s vision was to revolutionize dairy farming through innovative digital tools promoting transparency, accountability, and improved farmer livelihoods.
USD 2 Million Investment in Innovation
With a strategic investment exceeding USD 2 million, Agri-Trace developed the groundbreaking eDairy System—a comprehensive Dairy Management Information System (DMIS) designed to eliminate pilferage, improve data accuracy, and streamline payment processes across Kenya’s dairy value chain.
Pilot Success at Limuru Dairy Farmers Cooperative
The eDairy System was first piloted at Limuru Dairy Farmers Cooperative Society, serving over 3,000 farmers. The project demonstrated measurable impact—cutting payment delays, reducing fraud, and enhancing data accuracy, thus earning national recognition as a model for digital dairy transformation.
Expansion Across Kenya’s Dairy Belt
Following pilot success, the system expanded to 58 Dairy Business Units (DBUs) across Central, Rift Valley, and Western Kenya. Thousands of farmers benefited from digitized record-keeping, transparent payments, and improved operational efficiency, positioning eDairy as Kenya’s leading dairy technology provider.
Rebranding and Regional Growth
As adoption accelerated, the company rebranded to E-Dairy Africa Limited to reflect its growing continental ambitions. The new brand identity symbolizes modernization, innovation, and a renewed commitment to transforming the dairy sector across Africa through smart digital ecosystems.
